Do you dry brand-new filament before the first print?

Some sealed spools print beautifully straight out of the bag and some clearly do not. I am interested in whether people routinely dry new PETG/nylon, or only when symptoms show up.

PLA: usually no. PETG: only if the spool shows symptoms. Nylon/TPU: I am much more inclined to dry first because the cost of discovering moisture halfway through a long print is annoying.

Sealed does not necessarily mean dry from manufacture. For engineering materials I treat drying as part of setup, not a rescue step.
